Years ago I created the LockRadio Global Broadcast Network using the power of the Internet. It was a lot of fun and many good locksmiths joined in and showed their creativity with fun jingles. Today Arizona locksmiths Charles Eastwood, Andrew McColley, Ryan Ford and others are hitting the AM radio airways every Sunday nights at 9 PM.
The original pioneer in talk radio on AM Radio was Sal Schilizzi of All Over Locksmiths in New York. His call in program was designed to educate the public in the area of burglary prevention. He held the title of World Champion Safecracker for 22 years back in the 1950's. Fast forward into the era of search engines, smart phones, wifi, organized scammers and we find these adventurous locksmiths carrying on Sal's legacy of trying to educate the consumer using powerful media, both AM radio and YouTube video.
The Locksmith Show is in its infancy, but it shares the same air waves as Don Imus, Edward Woodson, Laura Ingraham, Healthy House Call with Dan Koontz, Herman Cain,The Del Walmsley Show - presented by Lifestyles Unlimited, Michael Savage, Lars Larson and Alex Jones.
Keep up the interesting and hard work. The Society of Professional Locksmiths recognizes how common people can work together and accomplish uncommon achievements. Maybe one day you will be syndicated or at the very least, get the attention of one of those prime time hosts. You made it on the programming list...that in itself deserves a shout out!

Experiments into every thing imaginable is on the move. We can possibly call it UBER domination, Uberification or simply disruptive innovation. Either way, it is the what is on the horizon and the locksmith industry is not immune. Everyone wants to develop the next best "app", but the UBER concept for me appears to be much more, it is a market place equalizer. The SOPL has advocated for a long time that flat rate predictable pricing for certain services is the solution to curbing scams and other pricing games used by bad folks. Utilizing a beacon location software that connects the consumer to the closest service provider presents several benefits. I recently spend time with LockedOut founder Ray Wang, Dane Arpino formally of Alluring Logic, and Kohannah Soto Chief Director of Locksmith Operation. As I sat in their Park Ave. office here in New York City I was in awe of the sophistication of their operation. This was no boiler room operation and the technology in front of me was impressive. On the walls where flat screen TV's with maps of the United States, electronic pulses glowing every second like little paint balls exploding and graphs that looked like the stock exchange. Okay, I am impressed now show me the money! - They did. Business Insider, Deputy Editor Alyson Shontell points out that Uber CEO Travis Kalanick wants Uber to be an instant gratification service that gives people what the need, when they need it, whether that's a ride or some other delivery such as a delivery. "Uber is building a digital mesh — a grid that goes over the cities. Once you have that grid running, in everyone's pockets, there is a lot of potential for what you can build as a platform. Uber is in the empire-building phase. There are things that are not designed for Uber, explains Uber CEO Travis Kalanick. Source - Business Insider Could this expand into the locksmith emergency services such as lockouts? Yes, it can and will. It is all about the frequency of calls for a particular service and locksmiths providing lockouts appear to be prime candidate. The Society of Professional Locksmiths Supports this Project The following is a movie being made which involves a real locksmith, not a scammer. It is a positive work of art depicting the interesting interactions with as locksmiths encounter on a daily basis. Please back this project on Kickstarter as well by clicking here - Keys to the City. The SOPL will match funds up to $1000 so when you pledge support make sure you add "SOPL Sent Me" in the remarks! Keys to the City tells the story Matthew Ballard, a 70-year-old Brooklyn locksmith, who has unlocked and entered the homes of New Yorkers for 47 years. Amidst a time when gentrification rapidly pervades Brooklyn, and the cultural landscape of the city is rapidly shifting, Matthew has distanced himself from the people around him and now seeks to escape the place he once knew. Before retiring and pursuing a peaceful life in Savannah, Georgia, Matthew discovers that he must first teach George Goga, a young and bold first generation Armenian immigrant, about what it takes to be a New York City locksmith. I had the opportunity to speak directly with Ian Moubayed, the young independent filmmaker who was inspired to create this project after having a "gratifying" experience with a real locksmith (not a scammer) after being locked out of his home. Now any locksmith can offer transponder key duplication. No knowledge needed no key duplicator, no high security key machine, no software maintenance and NO KEY INVENTORY required! The T-Key Machine, aka "The Black Box" requires a computer using Window based operating system. Many locksmith have been turning away this business or referring them to another locksmiths who is an "Auto Guy", because they do not want the investment or headache of trying to keep up with the constant changes. Now you no longer have to say NO. Dorman Products, Inc. is a leading supplier of Dealer “Exclusive” automotive replacement parts, automotive hardware, brake products, and household hardware to the Automotive Aftermarket and Mass Merchandise markets. The secret sauce is not in the device, but back at Dorman so if anyone wanted to try to back engineer the T-Key Machine, it wouldn't benefit them.
Steps to making a duplicate transponder key are - #1 - Select Year, Make & Model or use VIN# #2 - Insert key (remove from key ring) #3 - Click Capture Your key order will be shipped to you or directly to your customer and operate the vehicle out of the envelope! Yeah it's that easy! The T-Key Machine is now available to the locksmith market. Some locksmiths feel their customers want duplicates immediately, others disagree and have clients who are willing to wait 24-48 hours. Which one are you? During a recent survey a locksmith was asked what he would tell his customers if he didn't have a particular key blank in stock, he replied "I will tell them I will call them when I get one from my distributor." Isn't that the same thing as waiting? Remember, if you are the Locksmith of NO!, this is a great way to earn missed income and you don't need to be an "Auto Guy". Other technologies in the consumer market are racing to provide transponder key services direct. The T-Key Machine now provides the locksmiths another tool in their trick bag to compete. While the faint at heart complained that the performance expectations Dave identified as the business facts of life were too demanding and harsh for most workplaces, He disagreed and continue to contend that letting people live in a gray area and failing to stretch them with higher standards is what is truly harsh. Following are 25 sample business facts of life. 1. It’s o.k. not to like a part of your job, but it’s not o.k. not to do it. In fact, I don’t expect you to like everything about your job. That’s why we pay you to do it. Commentary: If you loved everything about your job, we’d have to turn the place into an amusement park and charge you admission for coming to work each day. 2. In matters concerning our values and standards, you have a voice but not a vote. I will listen to your input, but I will ultimately decide. Commentary: It is the leader’s privilege and responsibility to create standards. I will not reduce my vision to accommodate your comfort zone. 3. Everyone on this team will be held to the same high standard of work ethic, customer care, and character, regardless how high their level of production. Commentary: Being a top producer does not excuse you from continuing to work hard, caring for our customers, or living our values. 4. You are expected to prove yourself over again every day. Tenure, credentials, and years of experience don’t substitute for results. Commentary: Yesterday ended last night. You will not be permitted to cash royalty checks or borrow credibility from what you did once-upon-a-time. 5. I will work with you as long as you continue to make measurable progress in reasonable time. However, if you reach a point where you hover at or below average performance levels with no upward trend, your future with this organization is in jeopardy. Commentary: Frankly, if you don’t grow, you go. 6. I not only expect you to work hard on the job, I expect you to work hard on yourself. Commentary: Your business will get better when you get better. Never wish it were easier, wish you were better. 7. Our compensation programs will be heavily weighted to reward above average performers and above average results. We will not weaken the strong in order to strengthen the weak. Commentary: We run a meritocracy, not a welfare state. 8. When promotions are available, they will go to the most deserving member of the team regardless of longevity, gender or ethnic background. Commentary: The person “next in line” will always be the most deserving person. We’re running a business, not the Royal Family. 9. I expect you to focus on what you can control and never assume a victim’s mindset to explain away your lack of success. Commentary: Success is more about inside decisions than outside conditions. Take responsibility for your life. 10. I measure loyalty by performance, not the number of years you cash our paychecks. Commentary: Loyalty is more about what you put into the time than the time you put in. The most disloyal thing you can do is to stop performing. 11. I will give you consistent and honest feedback on performance. Commentary: If you’re great, I’ll tell you. If you’re failing, I’ll tell you. If you’re ever unclear where you stand, ask me. 12. I expect you to tell me what I need to hear and not what you think I’d like to hear. Commentary: Kissing up will only succeed in keeping you down. 13. I will train you and invest in your development, but I also expect you to invest in yourself. Commentary: If you don’t invest in yourself, why should anyone else? 14. I expect you to lead by personal example, not personal convenience. This means you must commit yourself to a cause and not commit the cause to yourself. Commentary: Before you stand to lead, stoop to serve. 15. Lying, cheating, and stealing are grounds for immediate dismissal. Commentary: If this has to be explained, you should leave now. 16. I expect you to add value to others on your team. Be a giver and not just a taker. Commentary: If you’re in it only for yourself, you’re in a mighty small business. 17. You are expected to always do what is right, not what is easy, cheap, popular, or convenient. Commentary: And you will do so without excuse and regardless of the cost. 18. If you have personal problems that affect your work, I will listen, advise, and try to help you. However, you are expected to work through the paradox of solving your personal problems while you continue to get results on the job. Commentary: Personal problems cannot become a permission slip for an indefinite production holiday. 19. I expect you to become brilliant in the basics of your job. Commentary: You don’t have to do anything extraordinary to get the next performance level. Instead, I expect you to do the ordinary things extraordinarily well. 20. I expect you to learn from mistakes and continue to take shots even when you miss. Commentary: When you hit a wall learn to bounce, not splatter. 21. I expect you to avoid repeating the same mistakes. Commentary: Carelessness will not be permitted to become a lifestyle. 22. I expect you to become an “and then some” person. Commentary: Do what you say, and then some. Hit your numbers, and then some. Keep your commitments, and then some. 23. You will not whine, gossip, or complain about personal issues on company time. Commentary: You will not be permitted to inflict distractions, momentum-breakers, or negativity on your teammates. 24. There is no tolerance for employees who make the numbers, but violate the values. Thus, I will measure you by two metrics: performance expectations and behavioral expectations. Commentary: Our core values are non-negotiable. They will shape your behaviors; you will not infect our culture by abusing them. 25. I will listen to explanations for job failures, but not excuses. I expect you to take responsibility. Commentary: Excuses are the DNA of underachievers. One of the best days of your life is when you give them up. Why not start today? Some of these business facts of life may have comforted you, while others confronted you.
